About Good Intentions Coffee

We are opening our first brick and mortar cafe location on Wilshire Boulevard, and we would like to build a small, but mighty team to shepherd us through this big step for our company. We are looking for an Assistant Cafe Manager to join our team. This position reports to the Cafe Manager and has Baristas reporting into it.

Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Cafe Manager and be their right hand with day-to-day operations of the coffee shop.

  • Train, coach, and develop baristas in their roles.

  • Delegate tasks to baristas according to their experience and comfort-levels.

  • Manage and ensure shift coverage, scheduling, and communicate scheduling expectations to baristas.

  • Provide attentive customer service, and is a representative of Good Intentions Coffee’s values.

  • Handle customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.

  • Ensure product quality and cafe cleanliness are met and exceeded. 

  • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures to maintain high standards of service and cleanliness.

  • Lead opening and closing standard operating procedures as needed.

  • Support the Cafe Manager with inventory tracking, requests, and ordering systems as needed.

  • Elevate concerns to the Cafe Manager where appropriate and reasonable.

  • Responsible for leading the team and managing the store in the absence of the Cafe Manager.

  • Stay informed about industry trends to make informed business decisions.

  • Have a growth mindset–be willing to receive and act on feedback. 

  • Expected to perform all the same responsibilities as Baristas and support the team as a whole.

  • May be entrusted with keyholder (opener / closer) responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • 1-2 years experience in the food and beverage industry, preferably in coffeehouses/cafes/coffee roasters.

  • High School Diploma or GED graduate preferred.

  • Must hold a valid CA Food Handler’s card.

  • Demonstrated experience managing, motivating, and leading a team.

  • Demonstrated experience anticipating any problems and being able to creatively tackle and problem-solve with the Cafe Manager.

  • Very strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • An interest and love of all things coffee! You will be expected to taste everything and be knowledgeable on our menu.

  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.

  • Reliably and consistently arrive at the Cafe on time.

Physical Requirements: 

  • The majority of the time, team members will be standing or walking throughout the cafe and behind the counter.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear coworkers and customers. Noise level is moderate. 

  • Regularly using hands for gross and fine manipulation concurrently or alternately (finger, handle, feel, etc).

  • Regularly using hands and arms to reach overhead.

  • Occasionally sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and peripheral visual acuity.

  • Regularly tasting and smelling our menu offerings with a degree of accuracy.

  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and hot/cold liquids. 

Bonus Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated experience managing, tracking, and analyzing inventory as it relates to supporting Good Intentions Coffee’ finances.

  • Experience with menu and seasonal drink development.

  • Bilingual.

Location and Hours:
6363 Wilshire Blvd Suite 101, Los Angeles, CA 90048

Operating Hours (subject to change)
Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 2:00pm
Saturdays, 8:00am to 1:00pm 

Shifts start at 6:00am and end at 3:00pm Monday through Friday, and 7:00am and 2:00pm on Saturdays.

Hourly Range: 

$21 - 24/hour (commensurate with experience)

Timeline:

We have a tentative starting date of August 19th, with training beginning August 12th.
